Delhi-based funk/blues band Red Shorts have announced the release of their debut EP, Shorts Season, due to come out in a few weeks. “Shorts Season features four of our grooviest songs so far.” Drummer Arjun Mathur told us, “There was no complex idea behind it, we wanted to keep things as simple as possible. We just wanted our music to reach as many listeners as it could.”

The EP was recorded at Delhi’s Plug ‘N’ Play Studios with Anindo Bose; “We wanted the EP to sound as natural and casual as possible,” Arjun told us, “But with great production, and a strong groove supporting the music. The entire EP has a very laid back feel to it, which you can listen to in any mood. We’ve had a bunch of highly talented people working with us on the visual aspects of the EP. With creatives, we had on board with us, Sonal Singh and Sneha Virmani who are great designers from NIFT Delhi. For photographs, we worked with Kirti Virmani, who has been the absolute boss.”

The band has interesting plans and collaborations etched out for the EP release, as Arjun tells us. “The release date is still a work in progress,” he told us, “We wanted the release date to coincide with a gig. So, we’re still working out stuff. However, we have huge plans for the gig, and we plan to collaborate with some of Delhi’s grooviest and most talented artists. We’re really stoked about that.”
