Belatedly it may be, but Delhi-based psychedelic/indie/weirdo rockers Indigo Children are all set to release two new singles, called ‘Jesus was a Mushroom’ and ‘Why Don’t You Follow Me Down’, with the release being supported by a four city tour starting from September 5 in Mumbai. Pune, Delhi, and Hyderabad comprise the remaining locations on the tour, which finishes on September 27.

As for the songs, Nikhil Rufus Raj, reveals that the recording process, which took place at Fender Music Academy in Delhi with Viraj Mohan and Keshav Dhar handling the production, was a long one – one and a half months, in fact. “There were a lot of glitches – bad rehearsing, amps not being there, mics not being there and us begging or borrowing or stealing them, before we eventually finished them.” ‘Jesus was a Mushroom’, he says, is an anti-establishment song on some level, as is ‘Why Don’t You Follow Me Down’, which is about “doing what you want to do, not giving a fuck about anything”.

Be that as it may, we’re currently giving quite a few fucks in anticipation of the releases, which will be available for download from rsjonline.com.
