The first edition of Rain Revolt: Shillong Open Air will feature Dying Fetus, the death metal monsters from the US, as the headlining act. The festival, which will be held on June 7 this year at the Polo Ground, Shillong, is going to be an annual affair, with the inaugural edition featuring an explosive line-up that also includes Underside from Nepal, reunited death metal icons Third Sovereign (Aizawl), Bangalore’s young progressive metalcore Cheisrah, and Plague Throat, the death metallers from Shillong.
Dying Fetus have been around since ’91, developing a strong fan following over the years. The band has already released seven albums, and is currently in the process of working on their next full-length. Fronted by John Gallagher (vocals/guitars), the only original member of the band, the line-up also consists of Sean Beasley (bass/vocals), and drummer Trey Williams. Rain Revolt: Shillong Open Air will be the band’s first performance in India. In addition, Third Sovereign, who recently reunited after a long hiatus, are all set to bring their extreme metal leanings to the fore. Underside, a young metal band from Nepal who merge influences ranging from old school thrash to retro to modern metal, will also be taking the stage at the festival.
