FuzzCulture Release Debut Album

May 19, 12:01pm

Delhi's electro rock duo FuzzCulture recently released their debut album, NO, with the album launch tour having kicked off on May 14 and set to travel across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Gurgaon, over the next few weeks.

Delhi’s electro rock duo FuzzCulture released their debut album, NO, with the first album launch gig held in Delhi on May 14. “We started writing the album right after our debut EP in 2013,” guitarist Arsh Sharma told us, “And it’s taken almost two years to a point where we could put it out. If you see the album you can see the various phases of evolution we've been through within the last two years and the various moods reflected in the album. Thematically, I think a sense of individualism and dealing with various slightly negative emotions creeped into the album though there was no intent to tie the album together in any sense.”

The duo recorded the album at their studio in Delhi; “The writing and recording experience was very sporadic, since we have a permanent place where we work the writing and recording processes would mostly overlap. Mostly, I would say it's a collection of long nights at the studio just tinkering and recording and playing with synths and sounds, and finally just correcting or re-recording whatever we needed to. There was no set dates in the studio, just a long process of building things on top of each other.” The band also released their first music video for the track ‘With Open Eyes’ off of the album, with two more in the pipeline. “‘With Open Eyes’ was made by VH1 as a part of our Contrabands deal,” Arsh told us, “Which is a three way relationship between Universal Music India, VH1 India, and Hard Rock Cafe. So, for this essentially we went into a conference room with VH1 where Shelraj Patel – the music director from VH1 – told us about the concept which is basically that of the grim reaper taking out this old man for his last party before he dies. Conceptually the song is about the fear of dealing with one's self as we age and I liked the concept of an old man being allowed to relive one night in any way he wants before he passes away. The concept, to me, also felt like the last wish of the man was to re-affirm his sense of individuality before he passed away, and that appealed to me.”

FuzzCulture kicked off the album launch tour in Delhi, and are set to play across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Gurgaon, over the next few weeks.
