It's usually done with one festival and jumping straight into another for Fountainhead Promotions and Events and Oranjuice Entertainment. They just wrapped up film, music and theatre showcase Johnnie Walker The Journey with the likes of Tycho, Explosions in the Sky and Giorgio Moroder and have just announced the lineup for the sixth edition of the Mahindra Blues Festival, which takes place on February 13 and 14 in Mumbai.
Top acts include UK blues/soul/reggae singer Joss Stone, best known for her songs such as 'You Had Me', which gained her a few Grammy nominations in 2005. Although Stone has switched over to reggae with her 2015 album Water For Your Soul, collaborating with Damian Marley, the singer still has one of the best blues voices you'll hear.
Also making their India debut are artists such as American bluesman Keb' Mo', Glasgow blues rockers King King, American rock and soul guitarist/vocalist Malina Moye, New York-based Heritage Blues Orchestra and Shillong's very own Soulmate, who are by now the resident blues band at the festival.
With previous headliners including Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Buddy Guy, Walter Trout and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, there's a lot in store for blues fans.
The Mahindra Blues Festival takes place on February 13 and 14 at Mehboob Studios, Mumbai. Stay tuned for ticketing details.
