NITTFEST, the inter-department cultural fest of National Institute of Technology, Trichy, hosts its silver jubilee edition this year. In a fest of fervour, NITTFEST is open to students of all years among the 12 departments in the usual round of cultural competitions, and one of the cultural events that is a big draw is the Battle of Bands.
At the competition, one band from each department take centre stage, each showcasing their musical prowess. From genres ranging from western to classical to fusion, Battle of Bands brings it all, in a heated mix of covers, originals and medleys. The event will take place on Day 1 of NITTFEST, on the April 1, from 6:30 pm, at the Barn Hall. The winning band of the battle will bag 12 points to their department, with the second place taking away 10 points and the third 8 points.
Last year saw the department of Production gain first place, as the department of Computer Science took the runners up spot and the department of Metallurgy finished third. Each year, Battle of Bands never fails to be energetic, each department band spurred on by its respective students. And this time around, it hopes to be buzzing with charged performances.
