Rapper, writer, and poet George Watsky will be touring India and performing live at HauzKhas Social in Delhi today, on 15th January, 2015. The San Francisco-based wordsmith will be performing in India for the first time, playing across New Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai, on January 15, 16, and 23, respectively. “A lot of artists never get the opportunity to play in India in their lives,” he told us, “And it’s something to be grateful for. I think I’m going to be able to learn a lot.”
George plans on kicking off the show early on with a little poetry; he said, “Some people may not know this, but my first professional break was on an old TV show on HBO called Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam, and I used to travel the US doing poetry at colleges. So, for people who get to the venue early, they’ll get to hear me do a bunch of that work – which I don't usually do before shows.”
George has performed at various different stages and festivals around the world, wooing audiences with his wit, quirky persona, and his uncanny ability to spit tongue-twisting lyrics at lightning speed. This should be one performance that everyone marks down in their calendars.
