If it’s December in India, you bet it’s raining festivals, from Weekender to Sunburn. But it’s not just open-air festivals that can brag about hosting must-see international artists. This coming week, Brooklyn electronic/rock duo Ratatat and experimental/math rock band Battles will make their India debut at The Humming Tree in Bengaluru.
While Ratatat's Mike Stroud and Evan Mast perform in Bengaluru on December 16, en route to their headline set at Magnetic Fields Festival in Alsisar, Rajasthan between December 18th and 20th, Battles will play an exclusive India show as part of a South Asian tour on December 11. This adds to Bengaluru’s already well-covered alternative music tastes, which was sated just last week at Bacardi NH7 Weekender, with the likes of Flying Lotus and Mogwai performing top-notch sets.
Ratatat are coming in to promote their Magnifique, which released earlier this year, putting them at their colourful best, and Battles too have their recently-released album La Di Da Di, which came out in September, to run through at The Humming Tree. Opening proceedings for the math rock band are (now) Delhi/Mumbai based rockers Space Behind the Yellow Room, who will play an equally rare set in what was once their hometown.
