Searock is one of India’s largest semi-professional band competitions. Started in March 2008, Searock is held annually during Waves, BITS Goa’s annual cultural festival, during October/November. In its ninth edition, Searock 2015 has had eliminations in eight cities (New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune) so far, with the final eliminations in Goa to be held on November 5. The semi-finals and finals of Searock 2015 are slated to be held on November 6 and 8, 2015 respectively.
Searock is a platform for bands to showcase their talent and be recognised as the new stars of the music world. Top bands competing in each city progress into the semi-finals, where they battle it out for a spot in the coveted finals in Goa.
The finalists this year include Kochi prog metal band Above Anguish, Bengaluru hard rockers Supermash, Delhi Carnatic rock band The Iyer Project, Bengaluru rockers Aathma, experimental rock act Ferry Tales and deathcore band Chase Em Wolves, among seven more upcoming acts from across the country.
The finalists shall open for South African rock act aKING, the international headlining act of Waves 2015. With performances ready to set fire and make the crowd go wild, the Goan atmosphere is just right to set the adrenaline rushing! The best act of the Searock Finals will take home the title of “Winners of Searock 2015”.
