DIY DAY Live Concert Series Kicks Off On April 1

Mar 30, 04:51pm

The DIY DAY Festival organisers have announced the first edition of the DIY DAY Live concert series to be held on April 1 at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi. The evening will feature performances by keyboardist and vocalist Tarana Marwah, Kolkata-based musician Tajdar Junaid, and Delhi-based post rock band Zokova.

The DIY DAY Festival organisers have announced the first edition of the DIY DAY Live concert series to be held on April 1 at the India Habitat Centre, featuring performances by Tankbund pianist and vocalist Tarana Marwah – who will be launching her ambient electronica, self-titled debut EP, Komorebi – Kolkata-based multi-instrumentalist Tajdar Junaid, and Delhi’s post rock act Zokova. “Its been an year since we started doing DIY DAY as a festival,” DIY DAY organiser/Zokova guitarist, Ritwik De told us. “So, just to celebrate the year, we planned to start a concert series. The DIY DAY festival focuses essentially on all kinds of art forms like poetry, dance, and music also. This is essentially only a music concert. So, we plan on doing a few more leading up to the next edition of the DIY DAY Festival, which will happen sometime between November and December, this year.”

Although a completely DIY effort, the concert series is not going to be crowd funded like the festival. “We are basically pooling in our own resources and working from ticket sales to host the concert series,” Ritwik told us. “But, the main festival will be crowd funded. The idea was to include more activities apart from the festival to kind of tell people that we are also doing this. We want to give the audiences more, and be able to pull this off without crowd funding or any corporate sponsorship.”

The tickets for the show will be available at the gate for a meagre 200 bucks, with a 50 per cent discount for kids under 21. “It’ll be exciting to see this happen,” Ritwik told us. “The amphitheatre is a really nice venue anyway, and it’ll be more accessible to people in Delhi and Gurgaon.”
