Time to get those dancing shoes out, and no, it's not for an EDM gig. 20 of the country and world’s most versatile drummers, 15 percussion acts are going to bring the most organic kind of beats you can imagine as part of the third Dumru Rhythm Festival in Pune.
The festival, which takes kicked off in 2011 and 2012 and took a break, features world music artist Giovanni Hidalgo, ghatam player and Carnatic music veteran Vidwan Vikku Vinayakram (also a part of jazz fusion legends Shakti), Chennai’s V Selvaganesh, percussionist Taufiq Qureshi and drummer Ranjit Barot, among others. Dumru Rhythm Festival is definitely going to get loud, with activities outside performances that include mass drumming and drum jams. All of this culminates into the finale jam on December 20, featuring 15 ace percussionists, drummers and wunderkind basisst Mohini Dey.
All profits from ticket sales at Dumru will go to Impact India Foundation, which aims to eradicate malnutrition, as part of the festival’s ‘Music for Food’ initiative.
