RSJ STAFF
Passenger Revelator is an eclectic band formed by guitar player/producer Donn Bhat, who has previously been part of seminal acts such as Orange Street and Friday the 13th. The band, which played at RSJ Live Nites this year in February, features gifted musicians from some of the most iconoclastic bands the country has seen (Orange Street, Killer Tomatoes, Envision, Teddy Boy Kill, Advaita) and the music tends to explores diverse auditory terrains, from rock and electronica to Indian classical music.
‘Stars Align’ is the first single off their forthcoming self-titled album. “This was one of those ‘moment’ tracks that got written in about 10 minutes one afternoon in Delhi…and, ironically, is one of the longest on our set,” says Donn, telling us about the song. It approaches musical territories that are densely layered, with the guitars and synths blending together to create a melodic sound construct behind the digitized rhythms holding the piece together. The floating and sanguine sensibility on the vocals, delivered by Ashar Farooqui (of Teddy Boy Kill and formerly of Envision), drives the song forward with a sense of purpose, as 'Stars Align' steadily develops from a bare and minimal vibe towards a very delicate peak before eventually subsiding calmly.

Passenger Revelator - Stars Align
Words:
Rolling down a hill
I found a place
that takes me back to you
and if stars align
we will find a place to be nowhere
to be no one
and its hard to give the last of what
you got.
