The pandemic has been difficult for bands, be it working remotely or watching touring plans and scheduled shows going down the toilet with each passing month. Metal stalwarts Gutslit have also been affected by the fact that their vocalist Kaushal LS is based in Bengaluru; scheduling and putting anything together is an extremely difficult task. There were also plans to tour in 2020 but of course could not, just like scores of bands that have met the same fate (they have new announcements coming in 2022); this really is a hard time. Nevertheless, 2021 starts with change for the band with Kaushal leaving and their ex-vocalist Aditya Barve rejoining as lead vocalist. The band announced this at a show in Mumbai’s antiSOCIAL last weekend.

“Kaushal has been and is a great friend. He was a force that would take over any stage, confidently and with composure; at the same time, he would be powerful and bold enough to make his presence felt. It has been a great ride with him to play over 25 countries and have our monstrous album Amputheatre out there. I will definitely miss him and wish him all the luck in the world.” stated bassist Gurdip Singh Narang. On future releases, he said, “The new album will feature a lot of changes in terms of vocal patterns and lyrics structures. We might even have more than one vocalist for the album!”

Kaushal’s statement was posted on the band’s socials, “It’s been a remarkable run with Gutslit for me over the years. We got to play some really great shows and festivals, and tour a ton of cities and countries. I’ll always cherish that. But the time has come for me to move on. I wish the band the very best with all their future pursuits.”
