Xpressions, a flagship event of XIMB held annually boasts of motivating the youth to think out of the box. Decibelz, a war of bands, stands out as an extension of that vision. A trademark band hunt competition, Decibelz has been successful at bringing in a varied range of generic Indian music with influences of rock n roll and its sub-genres. Inherent in most college festivals these days, as they cater to popular music ranging from Lucky Ali, Salim-Suleiman, Euphoria, Amit Trivedi and Arijit Singh, the inclusion of independent music genres at Xpressions through Decibelz 2016 is a truly commendable effort that took place from November 11-13th.
Interestingly, metal has been a popular genre among the followers and attendees at this festival. Old school thrash metal bands like Tomb of Lucifer from Kolkata to heavy metal acts like Legacy Shall Fall from Bhubaneshwar, and Hidden Identity with East Element showcasing original material added to a wide variety for all kinds of music listeners. Needless to say, these events serve as one of the best platforms for not only discovering new talent but also a hotbed for a large range of young minds that connect with each other on the sole idea of “music”.
Srinivasan Iyer- Emcee, Poet, Rapper (EPR) of Underground Authority” judged the competition as top three bands “Burnout Syndrome', 'Skullture' and Legacy Shall Fall' bagged the top honours in order.
The organisers of this year's edition of BITS Goa's annual festival, Waves, are trying their level best to leave no stones unturned. Scheduled to be taking place from October 31 to November 2, one of the biggest attractions of this extravaganza should be Searock, a semi-professional band competition.
