Grammy Award winning Australian hard rock band, Wolfmother, is set to administer anarchy on Hard Rock Café stages in Mumbai and New Delhi on March 5 and 7 respectively, as part of Micromax VH1 Rock Rules. This is going to be Wolfmother’s first ever show in India and so far, is one of the most anticipated live shows this year. They will also play on March 8 at BITS-Pilani Hyderabad for the college's annual cultural festival, Pearl.
Wolfmother have been the sort of band from the turn of the millennium that can send a 70s kid into nostalgic moshing. They first got together in 2000, formed by vocalist and guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist and keyboardist Chris Ross, and drummer Myles Heskett. Stockdale still fronts the band, but the rest of the line-up has changed over the years.
The band released their debut self-titled album in 2005 which shot the band to the top of almost every music chart in Australia, and won the band a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2006 for the track, ‘Woman’. The Australian hard rockers have been on rampage since then; led by Stockdale’s distinctly punk-ish vocals and vintage rock riffs the band has created a sort of cult following for themselves. Apart from the masses, the band invited a parade of critical appreciation for their music as well, being compared to the likes of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in terms of stylistic leanings.
