Ishan Kumar, the singer of Delhi based Purple Cassette draws immediate attention with his voice on their new single “Home Song”. The track’s simplicity complies with its intent to be an instant mood lifter.
The band prefers to describe their overall vibe as “simple and effective” and feel their work is influenced by similar music that are recurrently addictive. Originally based in New York City, they started out as a four-piece Punk rock band, balancing school/work life with music at night. After releasing a set of demos on their YouTube channel with the purpose of booking shows, they became regular performers at NYC night clubs and underground venues such as Pianos, Arlene’s Grocery, The Bitter End, The Bowery Electric and many more. After relocating back to Delhi, India and a year long hiatus, Ishan connected with former bandmate, bass player Siddharth Rajan, and they got back to the studio to record their first EP in 2019.
