Debut Edition of Go Air CHD Jazz Festival Kicks off Today

Dec 07, 01:54pm

The debut edition of the first jazz festival to come from Chndigarh is set to kick off today, from December 7 - 9. Bringing together a host of amazing musicians and jazz aficionados, the three day festival hopes to give jazz a fresh set of roots.

The debut edition of the Go Air CHD Jazz Festival is set to kick off at the Whistling Duck in Chandigarh from December 7 to December 9; bringing together an exceptional line up of jazz aficionados to christen the evening. This first edition of the festival will feature performances by bands like Delhi-based jazz experimental band the Tarun Balani Collective, Delhi-based contemporary fusion act Shadow and Light, Delhi-based Kitchensink, Takar Nabam fronted Takatrio, and many more.

Beinning as an idea from jazz player and creative head Nipun Cheema, the CHD Jazz festival aims at renewing the context for jazz in Chandigarh and eventually India. “It became clear that a new direction had to be found in the light of changing cultural appetites and global aspirations. It’s not long before,? GO AIR ?CHD Jazz Fest ?'14? develops into a key event in the city’s cultural calendar,” says Nippun.
